Dance and Music Hall, The Hague, Netherlands

The external wall comprises a single material system of opaque louvres with glass panels set between them to form a visually flowing facade with horizontal emphasis that blends with the floor slabs. The facade system is based on a system of horizontally-set GRP (glass reinforced polyester) louvres which control views through glazing set between them. This approach allows a controlled level of natural daylight within the building while limiting the attendant solar gain, with daylight levels and views out being controlled by varying the width and geometry of the louvres.
