Dance & Music Centre
Location: The Hague, Netherlands
Architect: Zaha Hadid Architects

Comments:
This facade for a dance centre with large performance space comprises mainly horizontally-set bands of glazed and opaque panels which follow a curved geometry. The orientation of panels responds to the requirements of a range of different spaces behind.
The use of a single facade system provides the opportunity to vary the width and angle of the horizontal ribbons of glazing and GRP, giving a unified expression to the facade where the geometry varies in response to spaces behind rather than completely changing the material system. The use of GRP allows panels of varing size to be made using an economic manufacturing method.
