NEWTECNIC BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM) POLICY

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is both a collaborative process and a technology toolset that is an integral part of Newtecnic's strategy which will lead to better solutions for our clients and ourselves. BIM enables lean, accurate and complete design information for an effective construction process and will leave our clients with better tools for asset life cycle management. Since Newtecnic's founding, we have always utilised the latest tools and platforms for delivering fully detailed, complete design information, tailored for the construction of buildings. The implementation of BIM processes and the stnadardisation of collaboration with others is a continuing part of that same principle.

We are committed to implementing BIM through this policy so that it becomes an enabler towards meeting the core values and objectives of the business. We recognise that BIM is fundamental to improving our industry's products for the future, and by default will implement BIM so that we will:

  • Provide a collaborative environment with our customers and supply chain based around a single source of information;

  • Reduce project risks to provide better outcomes in respect of safety, the environment, time and cost;

  • Operate lean processes that follow the BS and PAS 1192 suite of documentation to allow us to reduce rework, risk and waste;

  • Collate and disseminate effective and transparent information in a consistent manner;

  • Deliver intelligent information rich models that enable improved management of the asset life cycle for our clients;

  • Enable better communication to the workforce, to explain and deliver customer solutions.

To allow these objectives to be achieved we:

  • Require the use of Level 2 BIM across our consultancy and construction businesses on all appropriate projects regardless of value unless the BIM Gateway Process indicates that a formal opt-out procedure should be applied and approval obtained at C-Suite leadership level;

  • Commit to training our staff so that they are capable of marketing and using BIM;

  • Commit to continuous improvement through knowledge sharing, led by the BIM specialists across Newtecnic via our published Technical Notes and project templates.

This policy requires that we incorporate the use of BIM in business development, project proposals and processes.

By embracing these principles and the Newtecnic core values, we are committed to achieving sustained success through this ongoing transformation of the construction and manufacturing industry.
